Spanish Mortgages by Bankinter

Bankinter mortgages can be very easily arranged online, via the telephone or at your local branch. They offer three main types of Spanish mortgage - Fixed Rate, Mixed Rate and Variable Rate mortgages. All of the mortgages arranged with Bankinter require roughly the same criteria to be met.

Bankinter require that the loan amount does not exceed 80% of the total value of the property if it is to be used as your main residence and up to 80% of the total value if the property will be an off plan investment or a holiday home. The maximum loan amount for 80% loans is €500.000 EUR. If the loan amount does not exceed 70% there is no limit for the mortgage amount.

Mortgages with Bankinter need have a value of between €30,050 and €601,000 euros and for larger amounts you will be referred to a larger private banking ‘arm’ of the business. Typically, the loan period must be over three years and below 25 for non-residents and 40 years for Spanish residents.

Bankinter will require you to make either monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly payments on the loan provided that the amount that you wish to overpay is greater than €3000 euros. You can also arrange insurance through Bankinter.

Bankinter can arrange various different types of insurance including home, life and car insurance. The unemployment insurance which is arranged through ‘General Electric Financial Insurance’ will pay out up to a maximum of €1352.28 euros per month and for up to 12 consecutive months. The cost of this mortgage cover is around 1.1% of the value of the loan.
